er, it does not include others they did not mention but might bring, nor my friends who might come, others on the LJ and MySpace groups, or people who have seen/heard about us elsewhere. ^_^  (And from what I've learned thus far, word about our little Lurch is really getting around!!!  I am SO excited!!!

Lastly, need directions to the Lruch?  See Below:

The Washington Monument lies between Constitution and Independence Ave., off of 15th St. SW.  Independence is the closer of the two, and you can find the best driving directions from Yahoo or Google Maps, as the official Park and Recreation service doesn't actually tell you how to get there.  The most they can offer is this:

Car:

Interstate 395 provides access to the Mall from the south. Interstate 495, New York Avenue, Rock Creek Parkway, George Washington Memorial Parkway, and the Cabin John Parkway provide access from the North. Interstate 66, U.S. Route 50 and 29 provide access from the West. U.S. Routes 50, 1, and 4 provide access from the East. There is limited handicapped parking at the Lincoln and FDR Memorials, otherwise parking is extremely scarce in Washington, D.C.

Public Transportation:

There are several metro train routes from the suburban areas surrounding the city.

General visitor parking is available along Ohio Drive between the Lincoln and Jefferson Memorials. Bus parking is primarily available along Ohio Drive near the Lincoln and Jefferson Memorials.

Washington Monument National Monument - Directions (U.S. National Park Service)

Want something at least a little better?  Here's what we've got from Wikipedia:

The National Mall is accessible via the Washington Metro, with the Smithsonian station located on the south side of the mall, near the Smithsonian Institution Building and between the Washington Monument and Capitol Hill. The Federal Triangle, Archives-Navy Memorial-Penn Quarter, and Union Station metro stations are also located near the mall, to the north. L'Enfant Plaza, Federal Center Southwest and Capitol South metro stations are located a few blocks south of the mall.

The Metro bus and DC Circulator travel and stop around the National Mall.

National Mall - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

Hope that helps!  As soon as I get up and back from DC to personally map out the route, I'll be back w/better directions and a planned Lurch-route to show everyone!  Thanks, and see you at the Lurch!!

We just found out from the DC Parks service- (the people who run our gathering spot- the National Mall) that we need a permit to congregate as a group above 25 people. Will you help us get the permit w/a small donation of a dollar or two? Any help you can give would help a lot, but no worries! The event's still free and you don't -need- to donate to be allowed to come. The Lurch organizer is just poor, and although she'd love to take care of this herself, financially speaking, it's just a serious toughy. So if you can, many thanks, and fantastic! If not, that's okay too. :)

Thanks, and see you at the Lurch!!! :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

COOL LURCH NEWSWE JUST GOT OUR OWN THEME SONG!!!  The kind souls at Beatnik Turtle just made us a personalized version of a song called "Zombies on the March," & we just love it!!  Check out this link to listen, & then surf on down to their home page featured above! (Or you can click their link on our Links page.)  Thanks so much, guys!!!

GOOD NEWS!  We now have an advert on dcist.com!  Check it out here, or browse their many fun (and often inexpensive) events here!

EVENT UPDATE:  After even voting polls and still no contact from/DC experts, I'm leaning toward keeping the Lurchdate at Sunday, October 29th.  It seems easier for many e-mail participants, as well as about half the folks on LJ.  (No one hs said anything as far as the MySpace communities go.)  I hope this is okay, but if there are any major issues or problems w/this, please let me know, and SOONWe REALLY have to pin down an EXACT Lurchdate!!  Many thanks, and see you there!

Cheers, Your Friendly Lurch Mistress, Nae
